The skin of milk

As part of the Homeworkspace program, Ashkan Alwan* published a chapter on “Yogurt and Other Spaces of Work.” Since yogurt making is a tradition in my family, I decided to make this work in the con- text of the conversation sessions. I combined it with the sound of a sewing machine. In the field of labor, there are many layers that we do not see. As part of the housework that women have been willing to do for centuries – and here I refer to the great book by Silvia Federici – Wages against Housework – nourishing is a big part of work. This act of nourishing is in turn linked to food processing traditions that connect generations and remain a silent but very effective element of a memory of the culture.
