What is the human without the capability of doing?
Sara Ahmed describes the term „use“ very precisely as a resctriction of possibility of a material. The human condition is connected to the use of it’s self, of it’s potential in connection to other human or non-human species, wheather it may be the use of its working capacity, through its physical or its intellect. This potential is „used” by insitutions and other organised groups to profit.
The human condition is defined through its potential of consumption and usefulness to society.
Philosopher Byung-Chul Han, says we freely devote ourselves to self exploitation because in our society self-determined exploitation is more efficient than external determined one. He describes the excess of individual freedom as an excess of the capital. „We live no longer in a controlled disciplinary society but rather in an achievement oriented society. A society that switches from „you should“ to „you can“. “
So in the logic of neo liberal and achievement society, my human condition becomes a negotiation of my usefulness. In this moment the human must fall into complete exhaustion.
